The following images show the process of a bronze pour in 2010. My invaluable assistant was Tom Crowley (Pomona ’86), an artist and sculpture teacher in his own right but, when he comes to Ranchita, still a studio slave. Note that the investments he loads, apparently effortlessly, into the kiln, weigh as much as 150 pounds each. These images begin with a finished wax vessel that’s ready to invest.
